The baptism that is still going to happen

Satan kind of won a little bit this week.  He tried to ruin our baptism, but he ended up just postponing it until next Saturday
We worked so hard with Nehemías and he was so excited for his baptism- but now it´s going to be an amazing service this week!
We had everything ready, we made a whole bunch of food.  Drained and cleaned the baptismal font as a district (we´re not sure why it doesn´t drain by itself)- and then Nehemías showed up when it was supposed to start and asked if we could move it to the next week because LITERALLY EVERYTHING THAT COULD HAPPEN TO A PERSON HAPPENED TO HIM IN THE 2 HOURS THAT WE WEREN'¨T WITH HIM BEFORE IS BAPTISM.  Satan is sneaky.
We read scriptures and prayed with him, and he felt better but we still postponed his baptism so that his family could be there.

We had a lot of really funny moments with  him through out the week because he´s crazy.
He speaks 2 languages- castellano and gringo.

He accidentally left his baptismal clothing in the fridge.
And he pulled a a prank on us while I was on splits with our sister training leader.
He´s going to be the funnest convert in the entire world.

It´s the middle of winter here right now.   It feels like summer, because it´s 77 degrees outside.  In summer it gets up to 122 degrees Fahrenheit in the area I´m in right now. I miss real winter.

We had to move some of our furniture because it was like that part of the Indiana Jones ride in the blow-dart tunnel where it looks like the walls are completely covered in cockroaches.  And our bathroom has scorpions.  We´re trying to fumigate, so it´s kinda fun.  We´re all happy.

I love you guys.
Hasta la proxima!

Why Missionaries get fat.

This week basically everyone decided to give us food.  And apart from the oranges, it was all on the same day.
De la familia Rodriquez - a box of powdered milk and a bag of sugar along with all the food we ate in their house during lunch!
Hermana Romina - an industrial size bag of vegetables, and a bag of bread
Flia Chauque - ASADO! (Because we already had a lunch appointment and they wanted to feed us)
Hna. Rosa - oranges,
Then even more from our investigator Nehemias!

The best part was that when we talked with our district leader that night he told us he was hungry.

Asado kinda freaks me out because it´s so much meat, and it tastes like cow because they almost always prepare and eat the same day they kill the animal.

Today for p-day we played pool, and even though I took Billards 1 at Utah State, I kind of suck at it.  But, I know all the rules super good! We had a lot of fun and the photo that I took I had to angle the cue really awkwardly because the freaking column was in the way- was taken just before I actually made the shot!  Miracle of the week!

We made lunch with my mom from Argentina and the Hermanas from the other branch for p-day! Tortillas de papa.

I´ve never felt the spirit so much in my entire life.  We´ve had to depend so much on the the spirit, and we´ve been praying every time we´re in the streets and aren´t sure what we should do. I´ve never had so much confidence in the Lord.  We are literally building His kingdom here on earth and I can´t believe how blessed we are, or how much love He has.
I had a powerful experience that I´ll have to tell you about when I get back because it´s a little bit complicated and crazy!
I love you all so much.  We are going to have a baptism this week that is a HUGE miracle- and more on that next week!

esta semana

This week probably the worst thing that could ever happen to a missionary happened to me.  I lost my voice.  And my companion is new, and I have to teach her everything, and we have have double the amount of study time that we have to do.  And I had to speak in a whisper the whole time and it was really funny because she had to do it to to feel comfortable and it made the Restoration feel like a giant secret.  I wasn´t supposed to talk a lot but I kind of had to, and we had a really spiritual lesson even though I recited the 1st vision with boy-going-through-puberty-voice, and they all accepted baptismal dates!
We went to lunch at the house of a member and we got to know our meal while it was still living, and before it was turned into chicken empanadas.
My companion is teaching me little bit of portugese. Even though it kinda freaks me out.

It´s kinda cool that me and my companion only communicate in a language that isn´t the first language of either of us.
We´re helping one of our investigators live the word of wisdom, even though he smokes, drinks, and does drugs.  AND HE¨S ABLE TO QUIT BECAUSE HE READS THE BOOK OF MORMON EVERYDAY! and he´s going to serve a mission.  And he already wants to give a talk in sacrament meeting.
I ate fish for the first time in a year.
I´m helping teach piano lessons even though I don´t know how to play piano.

We had a cultural event in the church for 9 de Julio (dia de independencia) and I have really sweet videos of the kids from the branch dancing folklores!
AND...... I love you guys.

4th of July in a country where it doesn´t matter....

Mi Hijita , Hermana Martins, is from Brazil!  So.... she didn´t know Spanish before she came out on her mission. But she´s learning crazy fast and she understands pretty much everything- it´s great!  She is so freaking cute.  She´s tiny, and dresses like a little European, hipster doll.  And she´s so sweet.  And she´s my first companion I´ve had younger than me literally. (years in real life)  And she has a freaking pet sheep!  I´m eternally grateful that God keeps blessing me with amazing companions.

This week we were fasting to find someone to accept a baptismal date and go to church with us, because the whole first  half of the week I was in Salta picking us my companion, or on divisions with the other Hermanas.  So, no one was working in our area.  We were looking and looking for people to teach- but it was at the same time as the mundial final en soccer, and NO ONE wanted to talk with us.  We only had 3 lessons that night.  But, when I started losing hope a little bit, literally 20 minutes before we had to be back in the house we ran into Nehemías.  He told us that he´s been waiting for us to visit him again and had A TON of questions about the restoration and Jose Smith and the book of Mormon.  He accepted our invitation to be baptized, the 25 of July and went to church with us the next day.  He stayed the whole time.  It was fast Sunday and he went up AND BORE HIS TESTIMONY!!!!! about the night that we found him, and how to wants to grow closer to god.  He wants to direct the hymns, and help us visit other people, he´s amazing!!!!!!!

4th of July was kind of sad.  I just read 1 Nephi 13:15-19, 30 to my companion in English and listened to patriotic mo-tab.

ALL OF THE APOSTLES ARE DYING!! First L. Tom Perry, and now Packard.... Do we have to wait until the next general conference to find out who are the new apostles?

Thank you for writing me, I really love hearing about everything- and it makes me feel better when I know that everything is alright and you guys are having spiritual experiences! I love you all so much!
